Safety Tips For Driving a Petrol Go-Kart

!9# Safety Tips For Driving a Petrol Go-Kart

Not many people would disagree with you if you said that riding around or racing a petrol go-kart was fun. Unfortunately, your safety can be in danger if you act recklessly whilst in charge of one of these go-karts. Whilst you should enjoy the exhilarating speed that's a go-kart provides, you want to go to walk away from the experience in one piece.

The following is a few tips that need to be followed before you get into your kart. First off, if there are young people diving for go-kart you should make sure that there is a speed restrictor fitted. If you find they moan that it is not fast enough then remind them of the safety aspects that go with go-karting. You will find that if young children get nervous they will not always do the right thing and can even end up pressing the accelerator rather than the brake pedal.

This is the main reason that you must make sure you fit a speed restrictor for a child. The next thing to worry about is that everyone driving is wearing a correctly fitted crash helmet. You need to make sure that they haven't deteriorated over time by sitting in hot weather or if indeed they have been in any previous accidents.

If they have sat in the exposed sun too long then it could damage the structural integrity of the helmet.

You must also check the seatbelt of the go-karts before you start the engine. Definitely do not use the go cart it has no seatbelt fitted. Without a seat belt you were at a very big risk of injury especially if involved in an accident. If you have a seatbelt fitted make sure it is in good condition and not frayed but properly mounted and well fitting to the driver.

The last thing to check is the brakes. If you want a cart to stop then obviously you need good brakes. If the brakes are badly maintained or do not work properly then you're putting yourself or your child at risk. You should check discs to make sure there is plenty of pad left and also the brake cables to make sure they are not worn.

Once the driver is properly sat in their seats, double check that they can easily reach the pedals and they are fastened in securely.

If you follow these basic set of rules then every time you go karting with your family you will remain safe.
